October 30, 2023...the Texas Rangers are taking on the Arizona Diamondbacks for Game 3 of the World Series. This is the first World Series game at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona in 22 years, since the D-backs made their last and only WS appearance in which they won prior in 2001.
The Rangers would pull out a 3-1 win with a relatively low scoring game, and Texas now leads the World Series 2-1. Potential future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer was on the mound for Texas facing the upcoming star in the D-Backs rotation in Brandon Pfaadt.
Here is the Gameday lineups, stats, and graphics related to World Series Game 3 for your further viewing.
Diamondbacks vs Rangers Game 3 Recap
The first two full innings of the game were relatively quiet with the only notable play being Rangers' right fielder Adolis Garcia showcasing the cannon he has for an arm by throwing out Christian Walker trying to score at home after blowing through his third base coach's stop sign.
Then, in the top half of the third inning, Texas broke open the scoring with a Marcus Semien single scoring Nathaniel Lowe after he led off the inning with a double. Next up was Corey Seager who promptly drilled a 421 foot home run to right field at 114.5 mph for a two run home run, putting the Rangers up 3-0. This was Seager's 18th career postseason home run, between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Rangers, and his ninth and tenth run batted in of this postseason.

Unfortunately for the Rangers, Max Scherzer would have to come out of the game during his warmups in the bottom of the fourth inning due to tightness in his back. However, Jon Gray and Josh Sborz would combine for four scoreless innings out of the bullpen for the Rangers, allowing just two hits, zero walks, and five strikeouts combined between the two relievers.
Pfaadt would go 5 1/3 innings for Arizona allowing four hits, three earned runs, two walks, and four strikeouts. Even though he would be the losing pitcher for Game 3, that is not too shabby for the first World Series start of the young 25 year old's career.
A Geraldo Perdomo single off of Aroldis Chapman would score Emmanuel Rivera in the bottom of the eighth inning, making the score 3-1 and giving Arizona hope of making a comeback. However, Ketel Marte would ground into a double play ending the D-backs attempt at a rally to get back in the game.
Jose Leclerc would come into the game in the bottom of the ninth for the Rangers and shut down the middle of Arizona's lineup going 1-2-3, picking up his fourth save of the postseason and finishing a Rangers 3-1 win and 2-1 series lead.
