Corey Seager smashes a dramatic, game-tying home run in the bottom of the ninth.

October 27, 2023...Game 1 of the 2023 World Series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and Texas Rangers is underway at Globe Life Field. D-backs ace Zach Gallen is up against Rangers' Nathan Eovaldi to kick off this epic showdown.

Here is the Gameday lineups, stats, and graphics related to World Series Game 1 for your further viewing.

Diamondbacks vs Rangers Game 1 Recap

The Rangers would jump out to a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning thanks to a RBI double in rookie Evan Carter's first World Series plate appearance. Then, an Adolis Garcia run producing single would put Texas up two and meant Garcia tied the single postseason RBI record with his 21st run batted in of the campaign.

However, the Diamondbacks would get to Eovaldi in the top of the third inning with a two run triple from leading National League Rookie of the Year candidate Corbin Carroll. Then, Ketel Marte followed up with an RBI fielder's choice to make the score 3-2. The Rangers would respond tying the game at three apiece in the bottom half of the third with a bases loaded Mitch Garver walk.

Tommy Pham didn't like the score being all even and immediately responded with an inspiring solo home run on the second pitch of the top of the fourth, making the score 4-3. Ketel Marte would extend his postseason hitting streak to 17 games and tie the record with a RBI double in the top of the fifth, extending Arizona's lead to 5-3.

The Diamondbacks pitching would dominate the rest of the game...until the bottom of the ninth when they brought in closer Paul Sewald to close out the game and give Arizona a shocking 1-0 lead in the series. But, Corey Seager happened. With a runner on first base and down by two runs, the Rangers' shortstop launched a 418 foot home run at 112.6 mph to right field, tying the game at 5-5.

Game 1 would go to extra innings and neither team could put together a run in the 10th inning. But, in the bottom of the 11th inning, Adolis Garica, or otherwise known as El Bombi, hit an opposite field home run to right field, barely getting over the ball. This epic walk-off for the Rangers made the score 6-5 and gives the Rangers an important 1-0 series lead heading into Game 2 tonight.

This was Adolis' fifth consecutive game with a home run dating back to ALCS Game 4, and sixth in that time span. This was also El Bombi's 22nd run batted in the postseason, breaking David Freese's record from his historic 2011 postseason run with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Diamondbacks vs Rangers World Series Game 2 is tonight at 7:03 PM Central Time. Ol' reliable Merrill Kelly of Arizona is up against the Rangers' breakout pitcher in Jordan Montgomery.

Game 1 was full of twists, comebacks, and tension you could cut with a butter knife. Will Texas take a demanding 2-0 lead tonight as they head to Arizona for Game 3 on Monday, or will the Diamondbacks bounce back and even the series at 1-1. Tune in for tonight's game on FOX to find out!
